The University of Kentucky Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced four UK students have been awarded Critical Language Scholarships to study Chinese, Japanese and Swahili abroad.

UIC Students Win State Department Scholarships

Awarded from the department's Critical Languages Scholarship program, the competitive study abroad award will place Josephine Chaet, of Chicago (Portage Park/Irving Park); Maria Folvarska, of Itasca, Illinois; and Amreen Matharu, of Vernon Hills, Illinois, in a fully funded eight-week language program that includes cultural enrichment experiences.
